Portable Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI)
The GFCI provides protection
for personnel against ground fault shock hazards developed from
cut wires, faulty insulation, water or where electrical contact
might be made that would provide a path to ground through the human
body.
The GFCI measures the current flowing out and back to a power tool or device though temporary wiring. If leakage to ground is detected in the range of 4 to 6 milliamperes, the GFCI disconnects the power supply to protect the worker.
Units are designed for 15, 20 and 30 amp service and 120 or 220 volts. Models are available in overall lengths of 1', 6', 25' and 50'.
